The story. . .

For many years it has been my dream to start a youth dance gorup for preteens and teens; a group of kids who would gather together to worship the Lord through dance. However, I felt there was not an immediate need at my church because there was a wonderful musical program available to these age groups. Changes within the music program left preteens and junior highers without dance opportunities. I talked with many junior highers personally and discovered that most of them sorely missed working together with youth of different ages, participating in auditions, and the incredible experience of praising God together. It saddened me to see so many talented young people unable to use their talents in dance. Dance is a very important form of worship. I prayed and continued to dream. Then, amazing things began to happen as they often do when God is working. . . In less than 3 months the group was established!

The Facts. . .

In Step Dance Group consists of 12 students, grades ranging from 6th-11th. Eight schools are represented in our group as well as several churches.

Our dance number repertoire for this year includes interpretive, advanced jazz, praise, themed, and theatrical dance.

Galatians 5:25 "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." We not only strive to be "in step" with our dance moves and combinations, but also to be "in step" with the Spirit and God's plan for our lives. Our primary goal is to glorify God as we worship together through His gift of dance. We hope to perform for church services, Sunday school classes, children's events, afterschool programs, orphanages, nursing homes, and other opportunities involving community outreach.
